Akwaa Akwuru: I never disowned Charles Orie

I am Nze Dr Modesty Vitus Ezenwa known  and addressed as Akwaa Akwuru Umuobom  and I stand firmly with Chief Charles Orie,  I own up  and take editorial responsibility to Publication — “Why the Next Imo State Governor should Come from an Oil Producing Community ” published on 21st Oct, 2025.

My attention  has been drawn to a series of misleading and malicious publications being circulated on social media and other online platforms, falsely attributed to me and deliberately aimed at creating confusion and sowing division within the political space of Imo State.

For the avoidance of doubt, I, Akwaa Akwuru Umuobom, categorically owns up to the publication titled “Why the Next Imo State Governor should Come from an Oil Producing Community ” This article genuinely reflects my well-considered opinion and patriotic conviction that justice, equity, and fairness demand that the next governor of Imo State should emerge from the oil-producing region of the state.

In line with this position, I  Akwaa Akwuru Umuobom stand firmly with Chief Charles Orie, a distinguished son of Imo State, a visionary leader, and an advocate of inclusive governance who has consistently demonstrated capacity, compassion, and commitment to the advancement of our people, especially those from the oil-bearing communities long neglected in the state’s development equation.

I therefore warn detractors, political opportunists, and peddlers of falsehood to desist forthwith from using my name to promote fabricated stories, divisive propaganda, or any publication that does not emanate directly from me. Such acts are not only mischievous but also criminal, and necessary legal steps will be taken against anyone found culpable of impersonation or defamation.

I , Akwaa Akwuru Umuobom, reaffirm my unshaken belief that the time has come for equity to prevail in Imo State. The oil-producing communities have contributed immensely to the economic survival of the state, and it is only just and fair that they be given the opportunity to lead and shape the future of Imo.

I am calling on all Imolites of goodwill to unite behind this noble cause and to support leaders like Chief Charles Orie who embody the vision, integrity, and inclusive leadership needed to take Imo State to greater heights.
