Political Stakeholder Warns That Neglect Of Grassroots Supporters Could Cost APC Votes In 2027
ABUJA — Concerns are mounting over the potential impact of some federal political appointees’ alleged inaccessibility on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, with political stakeholder Otiti, popularly known as Truthsayer, urging the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership to address the situation before it affects the party’s electoral fortunes.
Otiti alleged that some political appointees had become difficult to reach since securing government positions, accusing them of ignoring telephone calls, failing to acknowledge letters and showing little interest in engaging party members and other grassroots stakeholders.
He expressed concern that individuals who worked tirelessly to support political officeholders before their appointments were now struggling to gain access to them, despite their continued importance to grassroots mobilisation and electoral success.
According to him, the perceived neglect of loyal party supporters could generate resentment within the APC, potentially weakening the enthusiasm of grassroots members ahead of the next presidential election.
Otiti warned that the situation could become particularly damaging when political appointees return to their communities during election campaigns to solicit votes and seek the support of the same people they allegedly ignored while in office.
He stressed that political appointments should be guided by competence, merit and the ability to deliver results, insisting that occupying public office should not become an excuse for disconnecting from the people.
The political stakeholder appealed to President Tinubu’s campaign team to urgently examine the concerns raised by grassroots supporters and establish effective communication channels between political appointees and party members.
He maintained that the APC’s electoral strength depends significantly on the dedication of its grassroots supporters, whose contributions to party mobilisation and election campaigns should not be taken for granted.
Otiti further urged the party leadership to assess whether the alleged conduct of some appointees and the perceived marginalisation of loyal supporters could undermine the APC’s chances in the 2027 presidential election.
He called for greater accountability, accessibility and merit in political appointments, emphasising that those entrusted with public responsibilities must remain responsive to the people and stakeholders who support the government.
Otiti warned that preserving the confidence of party members and grassroots supporters would be crucial to the APC’s future electoral success, urging the party leadership to address the concerns before they develop into a more serious political challenge.
