Gov Uzodimma gifts Imo NAWOJ, Correspondent Chapel Jet Mover buses …Congratulates new executives

…Charges journalists on Objective reportage

The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma has gifted the State Chapter of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, and the Correspondent Chapel, brand new 14-Seater Jet Mover buses.

Governor Uzodimma doled out the buses on Wednesday when the executives of the groups, led by the Chairman of the State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Comrade Ifeanyi Nwangwuma in company of other media practitioners, paid him a courtesy visit to officially introduce the new executives.

In his keynote address, the Governor who appreciated the media team for the visit, further lauded newsmen for the support, he said, they gave to him during and after his campaigns and election.

He congratulated the new leadership of the groups and urged them to work together with every member of the association, forget the pre-election issues and now unite as a body to advance the course of the profession.

The Governor continued, “There is no Government without the media, as through your reportage, the world will know if a government is responsible or not. You people have been supportive of my government and I have also criticized where we are not doing well.

“But I want to urge you all to always make sure the interest of the country, state will be the over riding interest in your reportage. When the government is doing well, report such, and when there are gaps, call on them to fill such gaps. Show more commitment in objective reporting for the interest of our people.

“Continue the support you are giving us, and let us work together to strengthen the state as it is my desire to make Imo the fastest growing economy in this region. ‘Governor Uzodimma stated.

Responding to the request of the two groups for a bus to be provided for them, the governor said, “I gave NUJ a bus when I was not a governor, talk more of now that I have become a governor. This I would have done since, but couldn’t because of the huge money we’ve spent in fighting insecurity.

He therefore assured the people that before they leave, the buses will be made available to them, which he fulfilled.

In an interview, the NAWOJ Chairman, Dr. Mrs. Nnaji Dorothy, Ph.D, who was overwhelmed with joy, averred that for 35years now since the inception of the association in the State, that it has not had a bus of its own.

Saying that she has been looking forward to the day it will be accomplished, pointed out that she is so elated that it was achieved in her administration.

According to her, “My administration has broken the jinx and gotten our association a bus. It has been my dream, and it has come to pass today.

“I am very excited and pray that the Almighty God will continue to bless and keep our governor with the heart of a father, ‘Nnaji stated.

The Chairman of the Correspondent Chapel, Comrade Chinonso Alozie, also expressed joy over the gift and earnestly thanked the Governor.

The NAWOJ Chairman who is also head of Information unit of the Imo State House of Assembly also took the vehicle to the Assembly Complex to show it to her boss, the Clerk of the House, Barr. Mrs Chinelo Emeghara.

The bus is powered by a 2.7 litre petrol engine that produces 163 hp and 260 N.m of torque. Power is sent to the wheels through a 6 speed manual transmission. The JET Mover can move from 0-60 in under 10 seconds with a maximum seating capacity of 14.

Other standard and optional features include ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), front and rear air conditioning, infotainment screens, DVD, MP3, USB, Bluetooth and reclining step for easy entry.
