2024 South East Media Summit: Ochemba bags Humanitarian Award …Takes steps to unify Imo Journalists

•Promises to provide Central Office for media practitioners

The Business mogul and philanthropist, Johnpaul Ochemba, JP(Asi NA Obughi Chineke), has continued to gain commendations and encomium over his contributions to the growth of journalism practice in Imo State, and towards humanity.

This was envisaged recently at Rockview Hotel, in Owerri the state capital, as Ochemba received A Humanitarian Service Award which was bestowed on him during the 2024 Media Summit and Awards Ceremony organized by the Nigerian Horn Group of Newspapers in Collaboration with South East Media Practitioners.

The philanthropist who was honored alongside other renowned personalities such as the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, among others, applauded the organizer of the event for finding him worthy for such accolade

John-Paul Ochemba who was recently honoured by both Northern Youth Association of Nigeria, And Eastern Youth Council of Nigeria as first recipient of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Tafawa, Belewa Awards respectively for his humanitarian and philantropist gestures across Nigeria, advised Imo Journalists on the need to function as one body

Saying that “ he has noticed there are two factions among Imo Media Practitioners, Ochemba called on the Publisher of Nigerian Horn Newspaper, and organizer of the event, High Chief Bright Chimezie Njoku, to constitute a committee that would be saddled with the responsibility of bringing the two factions together, to see that every rift is resolved.

He further promised to fund the exercise, provide a central office for newsmen, and to always do whatever that is within his powers to advance the growth of Journalism profession in the State.

Johnpaul Ochemba as a successful businessman cum philanthropist has made tremendous impact in the society and the world around him.

He is a Peace Ambassador, peacemaker and a highly valued citizen of his community, Ntueke, in Ideato South LGA. He significantly contributed to the maintenance of security in Ideato South. He maintains the Police, the youth wings and the council vigilantes and comes to their aid whenever they lack the necessary materials to carry out their duties.

During the EndSARS era, Johnpaul Ochemba donated huge amount of money to the young people of Ideato South, that led to their stopping the rampaging mobs at Mgbe.

He is the Grand Patron of Concerned Youths of Ideato. He has earned awards of honour in the past, such as Ideato Hall of Farne Award of Excellence; Excellence Award from International Human Rights Conmission (IHRC); Award from South East Leadership Forum.
