The Member Representing Orsu State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Francis Agabige, has in strong terms condemned the kidnap of one of his constituents, Miss Chiamaka Linda Obi
He therefore called on the State Government to direct the relevant agencies to properly investigate into the crime, and ensure that the culprits do not go scot-free.
Agabige made the call on Sunday while addressing the Nigerian Horn Correspondent of the State House of Assembly.
The legislator who averred that he has been disturbed and disheartened over the matter, narrated, “Miss Chiamaka Linda Obi, is a constituent of Orsu State Constituency, who was kidnapped by Fulani kidnappers while traveling from Kebbi State to Imo State after completing her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
“The kidnappers have demanded an outrageous ransom for her release, causing immense distress to her family and community.
“As a representatives of the people, duty calls on us to raise this alarm in defense of our people, and so we strongly condemn the kidnapping of Miss Chiamaka Linda Adaobi Obi and demand her immediate and unconditional release.
“We also plead with His Excellency, the Governor of Imo State, to direct the relevant authorities to investigate this heinous crime and ensure the safe rescue of Miss Obi.
“We further call on the State Government to provide support and protection to the family of Miss Obi.
“We also demand that the Federal Government takes concrete steps to address the rising incidence of kidnapping and insecurity in the States of Nigeria,’Agabige urged’.
He further asserted that on his own part, he is working towards raising a motion at the floor of the House to that effect, in other to ensure that no stone is left unturned in apprehending the culprits.
Daily Nigerian Horn gathered that Linda Chiamaka Obi is from Ogbuokwe kindred in Edenta village, Etiti Autonomous Community, Okwu Etiti in Awo-Idemili Clan, Orsu LGA, of Imo State.
Linda, a dedicated and humble youth corps member, was kidnapped by bandits on her way home after completing her NYSC on Saturday being 2nd of November, along Niger-Onitsha way, Zungeru.
We also learnt that she was Kidnapped alongside a family of four (father, mother, and two kids), One male passenger shot dead, driver and two others injured and hospitalized
