The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Wednesday held a stakeholders’ meeting at the party’s secretariat in Owerri, the Imo State capital, where prominent party leaders and diaspora representatives expressed confidence in the party’s capacity to drive good governance in Imo State and Nigeria at large.
Speaking at the meeting, an Imo indigene based in the United States, High Chief Sir Okey Amadi, said his decision to align with the ADC was informed by his desire to belong to a political party capable of making Nigeria work for its citizens.
“My interest is to join the right political party that will make Nigeria work, and I know the ADC will do that,” Amadi said. He expressed optimism that the party would not only assume leadership in Imo State but also emerge as a major force at the national level, delivering better governance to the people.
He urged the leadership and members of the party to remain united, stressing that unity remains the party’s greatest strength. According to him, collective effort and family-like cohesion would ensure the success of the ADC’s political aspirations. He also called for the election of credible and capable individuals who can effectively represent the people.
Also speaking at the event, Chief Dr. Uche Bon, the ADC Diaspora Coordinator and Akwukwonso 1 of Mbaise, said he joined the ADC after carefully observing the party’s ideals and leadership structure.
Bon noted that the country’s current challenges require a shift in political direction, adding that the ADC has the vision and leadership needed to meet the expectations of Nigerians. He maintained that the party is well-positioned to bring about meaningful change in Imo State and across the country.
He called on the people of Imo State to support the ADC and make informed choices when selecting candidates during future elections, stressing that the right leadership is crucial to achieving sustainable development and good governance.
