INEC Makes Major Move Ahead Of 2027 Elections As Staff Receive Fresh Directives

The electoral commission has suspended further annual leave for its staff while announcing an increase in salaries and allowances.
INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, disclosed the decisions during a meeting with commission staff in Lokoja, Kogi State.
The development comes as the commission steps up preparations for the 2027 elections, with the suspension of leave expected to ensure staff availability for the demanding electoral assignment.
Meanwhile, INEC has moved to distance itself from claims surrounding the leadership crisis in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), dismissing a viral publication suggesting that it had reaffirmed the Senator David Mark-led leadership.

The commission described the publication as unauthorised and insisted that it had issued no such confirmation.
The controversy follows a Federal High Court judgment that nullified the Mark-led caretaker leadership, further complicating the ADC’s preparations for the 2027 elections.
The judgment has also raised fresh legal questions about the party’s nomination process and Atiku Abubakar’s reported presidential ambition.
As political tensions continue to build, INEC’s latest measures indicate that preparations for the 2027 electoral contest are entering a more demanding phase.
Note: The original headline about Tinubu saying he never dreamed of becoming president is unrelated to the INEC report, so I have replaced it with a headline that accurately reflects the story.
