The Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG) has expressed profound sadness over the death of former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, extending its condolences to his family and the people of Delta State.
In a condolence statement, the Guild sympathised with the immediate family of the deceased, the Delta State Government, the Itsekiri nation, and all those mourning the loss of the former governor.
Uduaghan, who governed Delta State from 2007 to 2015, was a prominent figure in the state’s political history, playing a significant role in its governance and development during his eight years in office.
GOMEP-NG acknowledged his place in Nigeria’s public life, noting that his contributions to the political and administrative development of Delta State would remain part of the state’s historical narrative.
The Guild observed that the passing of a public figure of Uduaghan’s standing was a moment of grief not only for his family, associates, and political colleagues but also for those whose lives intersected with his years of public service.
As a professional body committed to responsible journalism, GOMEP-NG noted that the death of a prominent leader also presents an opportunity to reflect on the enduring importance of public service, leadership, and the responsibility of preserving history through balanced and factual reporting.
The Guild further expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and the people of Delta State during this difficult period, praying that Almighty God would grant them the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
It also prayed for the peaceful repose of the late former governor’s soul.
The statement was signed by Tochukwu Eluwa, National Publicity Secretary of the Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG), on October 19, 2026.
May the soul of Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan rest in perfect peace.
