GOMEP Backs Tinubu’s Bold Reforms, Seeks Strategic Alliance with Presidency

Abuja — The Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG) has expressed its readiness to strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government in promoting responsible journalism, strategic communication, and national development, while applauding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his ongoing economic reforms.

The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by a delegation of the Guild, led by its National President, Comrade Otiti Akpovoke, to the Presidency in Abuja.

Speaking during the meeting, Akpovoke praised President Tinubu’s efforts to reshape Nigeria’s economic landscape, describing the reforms as bold, courageous, and necessary for the country’s long-term growth and stability. He noted that although the full impact of the reforms may take time to materialize, they demonstrate a clear commitment to rebuilding and repositioning the nation’s economy.

According to him, GOMEP-NG is committed to supporting the government’s development agenda through professional and responsible digital journalism. He said the Guild is seeking a structured and sustainable partnership with the Presidency to enhance public awareness of government policies, improve strategic communication, and strengthen the dissemination of credible information to Nigerians.

Akpovoke further explained that the proposed partnership would also create opportunities for capacity building and professional development among online media practitioners, while encouraging greater inclusion of qualified professionals within Nigeria’s rapidly expanding digital media space.

Receiving the delegation on behalf of President Tinubu, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, conveyed the President’s appreciation for the visit. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to maintaining a productive relationship with online media organizations in advancing responsible journalism, effective public enlightenment, and national development.

A major highlight of the visit was the presentation of GOMEP-NG’s strategic partnership proposal to the Presidency. The Guild also conferred its Excellence Awards on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister Mohammed Idris in recognition of their contributions to governance, public communication, and national development.
