The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a new turn after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) quietly updated its official portal, replacing key party officials and strengthening the position of the faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
A check of INEC’s portal shows that Ahmed Yayari and Daniel Woyengikuro have been removed as the PDP’s National Treasurer and National Financial Secretary respectively. Their names have now been replaced with Odeyemi Mackson Oladiran and Eyim Donatus Henry.
The removed officials were aligned with the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led faction backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, while the newly listed executives are members of the Wike camp.
INEC had earlier recognised the Wike-backed leadership by listing Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary. However, the electoral body had initially retained Yayari and Woyengikuro on its portal.
With the latest update, all PDP national executives currently listed on INEC’s portal are now members of the faction aligned with Wike, a development likely to deepen the ongoing leadership struggle within the opposition party ahead of the 2027 elections.
