NCWS Imo State branch holds 7-day FIDAA prayer in honour of Late National President, Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau

The National Council of Women Sociétés (NCWS), in collaboration with Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), Tuesday, June 11, 2024, held the 7-day prayer in honour of Late National President of the Council, Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau.

The special prayer session held at the NCWS Secretariat, lmo State branch, No 4 Tetlow road, Owerri, was attended by State officers, Local Government Area Presidents and Secretaries, other notable LGA members of the Council ,as well as leadership of FOMWAN, Imo State, alongside various Islamic clerics and other members of the Muslim women Association in the State.

Addressing the the women during the prayer session, the President of the NCWS, lmo State branch, Nneoma Stella Ngozi Anyacho, stated that the prayer exercise was organized in honour of the National President of the women body, Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau who died Tuesday, June 4, 2024 in Kebbi State, while on official assignment and buried next day, according to Muslim tradition.

Imo State branch NCWS President, Nneoma Stella Ngozi Anyacho recalled that the first phase of the prayer was conducted 3 days after Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau’s death, while the 2nd phrase took place on Tuesday, (the 7th day) after her death, which she said had required all women of NCWS convene at the State Council’s Secretariat in synergy with the Muslim women community to join hands in the prayer session.

Nneoma Anyacho who had noted during the prayer session that the late National president of the women Council, Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau would be remembered for her humility, resilience, commitment, dedication to women mobilization and their growth across the country, prayed Almighty God to forgive her shortcomings.She also prayed Almighty God to grant the late National President’s family and entire members of the Women Council the fortitude to bear the loss, while praying her soul find solace in the bosom of the lord.

Speaking shortly after the prayer session, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the State NCWS, lmo State branch, Hon Chief (Mrs) Ego Ibeh, who described the death of Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau as colossal loss to the Women Council and Nigerian Women, said the Women Council has taken solace in the Christian and Muslim religious belief that,’God gives and takes”, as well as in the late women Council president’s indelible legacies, which the late Hajiya Lau was said to have left behind.

Chief (Mrs) lbeh expressed joy and gratitude to the leadership of the Muslim women community and their male counterparts who accompanied them to lead in the prayer session in the Muslim rites, as demanded by their faith, even as she assured them of the State branch of the Council’s continued partnership.

The lmo State NCWS spokesperson, lbeh, further described the late National President of the Council as a committed woman who had championed women’s cause at various heights while alive, especially, in empowering the women, noting that the late National President’s exploits stood her out among previous leaders of the Council.Ibeh, assured that Hajiya’s legacies shall be sustained by the Council.

The indefatigable lmo State Council’s PRO, therefore, prayed Almighty God to grant the Council members across the country the fortitude to bear such irreparable loss, as well as grant Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau’s soul eternal rest in His kingdom.

It will be recalled that the marathon prayer session was led by lmam (CSP) Mikaihu Onumaegbu and Shaykh Salih Arumashaun; while the FOMWAN was led to the prayer session by its President Hajia Oseanbuhi Maminefu O; and zonal Coordinator Hajiya Rahiya Munkahi Ahmed, among other members of the team.

It will be recalled that the late NCWS President Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau was elected president of the Council in April 2022 and died June 4, 2024, on official assignment in Kebbi State and buried next day in her Taraba State home.She was said to be born on August 8,1962.
