Rivers APC Erupts: Emeka Beke Faction Demands Sack of National Spokesman Over…

The internal crisis rocking Rivers State has spilled into the national structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the Chief Emeka Beke-led faction demands the immediate removal of the party’s national spokesman, Felix Morka.
The faction accused Morka of undermining its position on the ongoing impeachment process against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, by the Rivers State House of Assembly over alleged gross misconduct.
Speaking through the party’s state publicity secretary, Darlington Nwauju, the group faulted Morka for comments suggesting that the Emeka Beke-led executive no longer exists in Rivers APC. Morka had reportedly said Nwauju “used to be an official of the old exco,” casting doubt on the legitimacy of the faction.
At a press briefing in Port Harcourt, Nwauju said court judgments had already nullified the dissolution of the executives elected on October 16, 2021, and voided the congress held in November 2023 to replace them. He insisted those rulings legally restored the Beke-led leadership.
Nwauju accused the national spokesman of promoting a “partisan interpretation” of court decisions and backing individuals he described as non-party members over an APC governor.
According to him, “Mr Morka has lost the moral right to continue as a national officer after going on national television to misrepresent subsisting court rulings on the Rivers APC leadership crisis.”
He warned that Morka’s comments could damage the party’s chances of winning elections in Rivers State and weaken support for President Bola Tinubu.
The faction also condemned what it described as Morka’s attempt to downplay the impeachment move against Governor Fubara, calling it dangerous and self-serving.
“We have lost confidence in Mr Morka and therefore demand his immediate resignation,” Nwauju declared, adding that his posture mirrored earlier remarks by APC South-South Vice Chairman Victor Giadom, who allegedly referred to the governor as “so-called.”
The group further renewed its call on Rivers State Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi, to obey existing court orders and refrain from acting on resolutions of the House of Assembly concerning the impeachment probe.
With tensions rising, the Rivers APC crisis is now threatening to deepen divisions within the ruling party at both state and national levels.
