Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has called on residents, indigenes and political actors to respect constituted authority, protect public infrastructure and place the collective interest of the state above personal ambitions.
Speaking at the Government House Chapel in Owerri on Sunday, June 28, 2026, the governor expressed concern over the destruction, misuse and illegal occupation of government property, describing such actions as major obstacles to development.
Uzodimma noted that huge public resources have been invested in roads and other critical infrastructure across the state, lamenting that some individuals still engage in activities that damage public assets.
He urged citizens to embrace responsible citizenship and cultivate respect for government facilities, stressing that development can only be sustained when residents protect what belongs to the public.
The governor also directed a message to politicians, reminding them that they are citizens first and should separate personal interests from the common good of Imo State.
According to him, political aspirations should not undermine support for government programmes aimed at advancing the state’s development.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to transparency and equitable development, Uzodimma described Owerri as the collective heritage of all Imo people and called for its preservation.
He further encouraged those seeking political office to remain patient and trust in God’s timing, urging them not to lose hope when their ambitions are delayed but to continue supporting the government and praying for the progress of the state.
