The Presidency has cast doubt on the credibility of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over his promise to serve only one term if elected president in 2027.
Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, questioned Obi’s political consistency, citing his past association with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
According to Onanuga, Obi had once pledged unwavering loyalty to APGA, the party under which he became governor of Anambra State, but later exited the platform.
The presidential aide also accused the former governor of frequently changing political parties over the years.
Reacting via his X handle, Onanuga stated that anyone who believes Obi’s one-term promise “will believe anything.”
He said Obi had publicly vowed never to leave APGA and even made commitments of loyalty to the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
“By his own actions, Peter Obi has shown that his word cannot be trusted. His promises are as fleeting as his political allegiances,” Onanuga added.
