The identities of the 37 suspected illegal miners who reportedly died while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State have been released.
The development has raised fresh questions over the circumstances surrounding the deaths, with attention now focused on the NSCDC personnel involved in the miners’ detention.
The NSCDC has reportedly arrested and paraded 24 personnel, including the Niger State Commandant, Commandant Subaru Siyaka Aniviye, in connection with the deaths.
