In view of the motion moved by the representative of Ngor Okpala State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Obinna Egu, the legislators have called on Governor Hope Uzodimma to direct the Ministry of Works to carry out remedial work on the Ihitte/Umukabia/Umuneke road in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area, which is said to be dilapidated.

The members made the call after the motion was presented on the floor of the House, on Thursday, by the Ngor Okpala Legislator and Seconded by the Nkwerre lawmaker, Hon. Chisom Ojukwu.

Speaking, the Ngor Okpala representative who stressed that the above mentioned road is a pertinent road that connects the Ngor Okpala Council Headquaters, Umuneke through Ihitte Junction on Owerri/Aba road, averred that the road has become almost impassable for commuters and road users to travel on due to its state of disrepair especially when it rains.

He continued that the road has caused hardship and sufferings to the residents of the area who are predominantly farmers, adding that Local government workers now find it very difficult to ply the road in conveying their farm produce to the market or to report to work in their various offices at Council Headquarters.

Saying that palliative work especially on many failed sections of the road will ameliorate sufferings of the people, boost business and economic activities in that area, Egu therefore called on the members to urge the governor to direct the State Ministry of Works to put in effect palliative work on the road before the rainy season sets in.

As there were no objections to the call, the motion was put to vote, and the Ayes had it.
