Saturday 6th July, 2024 will remain indelible in the hearts of women in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State as an Imo APC Stakeholder cum Philanthropist, and a Practical leader from Uvuru ward 2 in Aboh Mbaise LGA, Chief Okey Ulokwe empowered 24 women from the 12 wards of the LGA with a sum of N50,000 naira each .
Chief Okey Ulokwe an ardent believer of Governor Hope Uzodimma and a staunch supporter of Sir Tony Awusaku-led administration of the All progressives Congress Party (APC) Aboh Mbaise LGA also donated seats, tables , flags banners and other sanitary items valued N1m, to the APC party Secretariat in Aboh Mbaise LGA, and also extended his magnanimity to renew the Party,’s office rent .
Presenting the cash grant to the women on behalf of Chief.Ulokwe, was an astute administrator and foremost Uzodinma ally, Dr. Ikay Njoku.
He showered blessings on Chief Ulokwe whom he said has chosen to help solve the problems of many families amidst economic hardship, he maintained that, Chief Ulokwe has really positioned the APC for greater electability in the LGA, not minding that he is not aspiring for any office now.
Dr Njoku, a former Council Chairman, and a former coordinator of Poverty Alleviation stressed on the need for women to be properly empowered, he extolled , Sir .Awusaku for his transparency , in making sure the money gets to the right persons.
In a chat with Newsmen, the APC chairman of Aboh Mbaise LGA, Sir Tony Awusaku, who felt so elated, expressed his zeal to further enhance APC’s strength and acceptability in Aboh Mbaise LGA.
On the selection process he maintained that the beneficiaries were selected based on those that really needs the grant (indigent women) from different wards.
One of the beneficiaries Mrs. Chinyere Anochie from Umuhu ward said ” I was not expecting it, I pray to God to bless Chief.Ulokwe for me, God will bless him .
Another Beneficiary Mrs. Eucharia Nneji from Mbutu Ward said ” I feel happy, I thank God , I will use it for my business ” she expressed .
Former Interim Management Committee IMC Boss for Aboh Mbaise LGA , Barr . Sir Emma Njoku appreciated the kind gesture of Chief.Ulokwe while urging the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money given to them .
In their respective speeches , Aboh Mbaise LGA APC Youth Leader Hon.Ogechi Ebegu and the Financial Secretary Hon. Chukwuemeka Ihejirika , expressed happiness that the right persons were empowered. They prayed for God to bless Chief. Ulokwe for remembering the Party and the indigent women in Aboh Mbaise LGA .
The beneficiaries were selected from Ahiato , Nguru nwe nkwo , Nguru nwe Eke , Mbutu , Uvuru ward 1 , Uvuru ward 2, Lorji , Amuzu , Umuhu ,Ibeku , Lagwa , and Enyiogugu wards.
