The Imo State Chairman of Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Dr. Echeta Bartholomew Uzodimma has advised Nigerian to go back to eating our natural foods, vegetables, and fruits.

He continued that during the time of our parents, they hardly get sick because they feed more on vegetables, fresh food, and other natural food items they get from their farms.

He therefore advised Nigerians to go back to the culture of eating natural foods, and fruit in other to stay healthy.

Speaking about herbs, he averred, ” Every medicine has its origin from herbs. The only difference is that the white men in their ingenuity extracts the active ingredient of those herbs, and utilize it into some of the drugs we consume today. They further trace it to the point of action which is when and how it should work, which we have not learnt.

“So for now, that is the problem we have with herbs, for we feel that it is every part of a herbal leave for instance, that takes care of a particular health challenge, which is not always the case.

“So if we can be able to extract what does what in a herb, then, we can be able to properly explore the potentials of  our herbs. For if we understand this very well, we will know the ways of preserving and preparing them to be used as drugs and food.
