The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has decided to hold back on the March 1, 2025, planned protest over the 50 percent hike of the Telecommunication Tariff.
National Beam gathered that NLC made the decision after reaching an agreement with the Federal Government for the hike to be reduced to 35 percent increase.
This decision was envisaged as a welcome development by the National Association of Telecommunications Subscribers.
It would be recalled that on January 20, 2025, the Nigerian Communications Commission announced a 50 per cent hike in telecommunications tariffs; the first major adjustment in over a decade.
Telecom operators, grappling with rising operational costs due to inflation and currency depreciation, had initially proposed a 100 per cent increase before the government intervened.
