Imo Assembly commends Uzodimma for restoring peace in Orsu LGA …Urges for reconstruction of damaged infrastructures, others

In view of the motion moved by the Member Representing Orsu State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Uche Francis Agabige, the Imo State House of Assembly has commended Governor Hope Uzodimma, saying he has restored relative peace in Orsu Local Government Area, where insecurity was seriously witnessed.

As part of the prayer of the motion, they also urged the governor to come to their aid in reconstructing most of the infrastructures; Police Station, health facilities, schools, markets, roads and courts, damaged due to the menace.

They also urged him, to direct the Ministry of Humanitarian Services, State Director, NDDC, and related agencies to assist Orsu people with relief materials like food, foam, medication, etc to enable them start life again.

The motion which was presented by the Orsu lawmaker on Thursday during the House plenary was seconded by Ikeduru lawmaker, Hon. Johnleoba Iheoha, and co-sponsored by eleven (11) other legislators.

Speaking, Agabige averred that Orsu LGA since December 2020, had been ravaged by serious insecurity challenges, that has caused lost of lives and properties.

He pointed out that the governor being true to his priority of ensuring the welfare of the people has proved his love for them, by deploying huge resources in continuously supporting the state security agencies in ensuring that peace is brought back in our LGA, and the people begin living a normal life.

Agabige continued, “Now we are really grateful to the governor for a huge success has been recorded in the area as their relative peace.

“We are also more elated that he hearkened to our call of ensuring that a police presence is brought back into the LGA, as the Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma on the 25th of March 2025, commissioned the reopening and restoration of Police activities in the area.

“Now our people are returning back home, and people freely moving about their daily activities, ‘Agabige stated.

Saying that in the course of trying to get rid of the hoodlums that caused the insecurity, that there were wanton destruction of infrastructures; Police station, health facilities, schools, markets, roads and courts, he called on the governor to once again come to their aid of completing his 3R mantra by reconstructing and rehabilitating those infrastructures, as he had already done the first mantra of recovery.

“I call on our amiable governor to come to our rescue for our people are gradually returning home but our challenge now are those damaged infrastructures which needs to be fixed for the people to begin enjoying the basic necessities of life, ‘Agabige asserted’.

Supporting the motion at the floor of the House, was former Speaker of the House Rt. Hon Kennedy Ibeh, Majority Leader of the House, Rt. Hon kanayo Onyemaechi, Minority Leader, Rt Hon Princewill Amuchie, members representing – Ohaji Egbema; Hon Francis Osuoha, Oru West; Rt. Hon. Dominic Ezerioha.

They expressed gratitude to God Almighty, and earnestly appreciated the governor for aiding the security agencies restore peace in the LGA, saying that the issue affected not just the LGA, but the entire Imo people.

They further reiterated the need for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the destroyed infrastructure, saying that it will bring life back to the LGA, and make the people feel alive once again as they will have those basic amenities available to them.

As there was no one against the motion, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chyna Iwuanyanwu who presided over the House put the motion to vote and the Ayes had it.

He also urged the Clerk to convey the resolution of the House to the governor.
