Following the notification for revocation of right of occupancy order 2025 to the holder/occupiers of Nwori Isophumini Market Land by the State ministry of Lands in accordance with the Land use act, the Ebonyi State Government as well as the Leadership of Mbeke autonomous community have welcomed the remodeling of Nwori Isophumini Market to ultra modern market attracted by the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi Nwebonyi so as for it to meet up with international standard.
For the record purposes, the very project is a federal government project that was attracted by Distinguished Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi. The project is captured in the Appropriation Act which is a public document.
The revocation of the right of occupancy was done for overriding public interest.
The Commissioner for Lands, Dr Mathew Nwobashi while interacting with Journalists immediately after stakeholders’ meeting organized by the Ebonyi Local Government Area Chairman, Prince Chinedu Uburu said the market land was duly acquired in accordance with laws and as such needs no cause for alarm as all necessary moves are in place to carry everyone along who has shop there.
The Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi said the ultra modern Nwori Isophumini market would be the hub of economic emancipation for the people of the area at the End.
Senator Nwebonyi who was represented in the meeting by Chief Chris Uchaji urged the people of the community not to misconstrue the positive efforts of the Senator to rapidly develop this area as something negative.
The Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area, Prince Chinedu Uburu who earlier blamed the leadership of Mbeke autonomous community for starting the demolition and remodeling the market without informing him, after exhaustively listening to the stakeholders of Ishieke Mgbomeze said it was a welcome development but urged that no shop owner should be shortchanged during the allocation of shops after the remodeling the market.
Uburu thanked Governor Francis Nwifuru for his peace loving nature.
Barrister Uburu also thanked Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi who has attracted the remodeling of the ultra modern market for the people of Mbeke Ishieke.
The Former Minister for power and steel, Chief Godwin Ogbaga, The Principal Secretary to the Governor, Chief Mathias Adum, the Stakeholders in the community, Chief Chris Uchaji all echoed in one voice saying that the remodeling is for economic development of the area and urged everyone to support it but called on the remodeling committee to ensure that every shop owner is accommodated and communicated when the need be.
The Traditional Rural Of Mbeke autonomous community, His Royal Highness, Ezeogo Peter Ukpamazi while reacting to the petition written against the the Senate Deputy Chief Whip, Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi over the ongoing market reconstruction, described the petition as a mere distraction to the Developmental strides of the senator.
Ukpamazi said the construction of the market stalls affects part of the market and does not include residential areas as People don’t live in the market.
“The market land in question was duly acquired by the state government in line with extant laws through the state ministry of lands. Documents attached.
“Sen. Nwebonyi has no hand in any demolition or the construction as the project was duly awarded to a contractor.
The project is not Sen. Nwebonyi’s project, hence it’s the duty of the leadership of Isophumini Village and Mbeke Autonomous Community to decide and negotiate shop allocation and compensation, with relevant authorities”. He added.
In addition, the President General of Mbeke Development Union, Prince Sunday Ogboso condemned the act of those who are against the development of the market to world standard.
“The attention of Mbeke Development Union has been drawn to malicious and mischievous publication and petition by some unscrupulous elements from Isophumini Village regarding the remodeling of Nwori Isophumini Market.
“The allegations of the mischief makers who are neither community leaders nor village leaders, that the remodeling of the market is generating palpable anxiety and fear of unrest reflect not the reality on ground but an expression of their ill will, a demonstration of their aversion to development, and hatred for Sen. Nwebonyi. They do not represent views of the villagers and do not speak for the community”. He said
He urged the General public to jettison the petition written against Senator Nwebonyi, signed by Louis Nwangbo, Ben Nome, Joe Igwe, Ikechukwu Agah and Sunday Nwokum as it not only misleading but also against the development of the market.
It would be recalled that Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi has constructed both major and Street roads in that community, just like he has done same in other parts of the Senatorial Zone.
The Senator is also constructing the ultra modern Civic center in the community, awarded scholarships to over 500 undergraduates.
He has drilled boreholes, distributed education materials to all the students in the Senatorial Zone, distributed vehicles and motorcycles to aide transportation and numerous empowerment programs which have helped the Youths of the area to become employers of labour and self reliant.
Senator Nwebonyi has built over 480 world standard bungalows to the deserving widows among others.
It was gathered that the constituents of Ebonyi North Senatorial district no long buy farm inputs since Nwebonyi became senator as he distributes to them accordingly and on time too.
