Save Our Children, Save Our Nation – APP Candidate for Okigwe South Fed. Constituency, Michael Crown

Every Nigerian with a conscience should be disturbed by the recurring reports and videos of school children being abducted by terrorists and criminal gangs. Recently, I watched a video showing frightened school children who had been kidnapped. Since then, sleep has not come easily. The images remain deeply troubling, not because they are unfamiliar, but because they have become far too common in our national life.

What struck me most was not only the fear in the eyes of the children but also the desperation in the voice of a teacher who was pleading for help. It was the cry of a citizen who feels abandoned. It was the cry of a nation asking for protection. No teacher should have to beg for the lives of innocent children. No parent should live in fear of sending their child to school. No child should have to choose between education and safety.

The primary responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property. Every other achievement becomes meaningless when citizens cannot sleep peacefully in their homes or attend school without fear of abduction. Security must not be treated as a political slogan; it must be treated as a national emergency.

Our security agencies continue to make sacrifices in difficult circumstances, and their efforts deserve recognition. However, more must be done. The government must strengthen intelligence gathering, improve security around schools, equip security personnel adequately, and ensure that those responsible for acts of terror face the full weight of the law.

The future of Nigeria sits in our classrooms. When children become targets, the future itself is under attack. Every school that closes because of insecurity is a setback for national development. Every child traumatized by violence carries scars that may last a lifetime.

As someone who desires to represent the people in the Green Chamber, I believe leadership must begin with defending the vulnerable. If given the opportunity to serve in the House of Representatives, I will be a voice for the people. I will advocate for stronger security measures, safer schools, greater support for victims of violence, and policies that place the protection of human life above all political considerations.

This is not about politics. It is about humanity. It is about the tears of parents, the fears of children, and the silent suffering of communities that have become victims of insecurity.

The government must act with urgency. Nigerians are not asking for miracles; they are asking for safety. They are asking to live, work, learn, and dream without fear.

History will not judge us by the speeches we made but by the lives we saved. The time to act is now. Save our children. Save our communities. Save our nation.
