OYC Condemns the Abduction of a Nursing Mother, Wife of Ebonyi Activist Nwoba Chika Nwoba by the Nigeria Police

The Ohanaeze Youth Council-Oyc, the foremost sociocultural youth organization of the Igbo people worldwide, has unequivocally condemned the abduction, beating and cruel torture of a nursing mother, the wife of Ebonyi activist Comrade Nwoba Chika Nwoba, who was taken from her residence in Awka on the eve of 30th July 2026, describing the act, allegedly carried out in collusion with Gov. Nwifuru Francis, as a reprehensible instance of executive rascality and impunity.

During a press briefing in Abakiliki on July 31, 2026, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, National President-General of Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), urged Governor Francis Nwifuru to cease using abduction as a means to intimidate opposition, stressing that constructive criticism is essential for democratic governance and the 2027 Ebonyi State governorship election.

Criticism is a vital component of democracy and governance worldwide, allowing governments to rectify both intentional and unintentional errors in governance and implement effective policies. In a civilized nation, a public office holder like Gov Francis Nwifuru should leverage criticism from Comrade Nwoba Chika Nwoba to excel in governance in Ebonyi State, rather than engaging in unnecessary political persecution against him, as noted by Comrade Igboayaka O Igboayaka

At this critical juncture, it is imperative that the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, caution the Ebonyi State Police Command and investigate those who breached the residence in Awka, Anambra State, by gaining entrance through the ceiling and abducting a nursing mother, the wife of Comrade Nwoba Chika Nwoba, to bring them to justice for undermining the Nigeria Police ethical service.

The President of Ohanaeze Youth, Comrade Igboayaka O Igboayaka, noted that Comrade Nwoba Chika Nwoba’s wife did not commit any crime other than being the spouse of Nwoba Chika Nwoba, a vocal advocate for good governance in Ebonyi State. The Nigeria Police Ebonyi State command’s abduction of an innocent woman in search of Comrade Nwoba Chika Nwoba constitutes an act of impunity.

The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) demands that the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, take swift action to address the abduction of Nwoba Chika Nwoba’s wife, ensuring her prompt release and reunion with her family in Awka, Anambra State.
