Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged voters in Anambra State to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) and rally behind the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the upcoming November 8 governorship election, describing the poll as a chance to end years of poor governance.

In an X post, Atiku averred that the off-cycle election offers the people of Anambra “a unique opportunity to open a new chapter” and prevent the APC from “snatching and running away with the people’s mandate.”

“The election to elect the next governor of Anambra State on November 8 provides an opportunity to end the era of poor governance in the state and to stop the ruling APC from repeating its notoriety of stealing the people’s mandate,” he said.

Atiku urged residents to rally around Nwosu Chima John and Nwobu Geoffrey Ndubisi, the ADC candidates, saying their emergence would usher in a “new era of prosperity and economic stability” for the state.

He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), under the leadership of Joash Amupitan, to prove that it has “turned a new page” by ensuring the integrity of the election

“This election is an opportunity for INEC to show the world that it has turned a new page — that the credibility of our elections will not be compromised to please the ruling party,” he stated.

The former Vice President called on residents to unite behind the ADC governorship candidate, Nwosu Chima John, and his running mate, Nwobu Geoffrey Ndubisi, saying their leadership would usher in “a new era of prosperity, peace, and economic stability” for the state.
