Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has declared his support for the party’s candidate, George Moghalu, ahead of the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.
Obi, however, emphasized that the final decision on who becomes the next governor rests with the people of Anambra.
In a statement issued by the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Tanko Yunusa, Obi described integrity as the mark of a true leader, saying his support for Moghalu was guided by conscience and loyalty to his party.
“A man is known by his words and actions — that is what defines integrity,” the statement quoted Obi as saying. “I will support our party’s candidate, George Moghalu, even though it’s not my election. My conscience compels me to do so. But ultimately, the decision of who leads Anambra lies with Ndi Anambra.”
In defiance of the rain and bad street roads in Anambra, H.E. P.O. came out for a walk on the street in solidarity with George Moghalu, and the Obidients are there to give their unalloyed support for this noble cause.
Obi urged voters in the state to exercise their civic responsibility with wisdom.
“To my fellow Anambarians, it is your democratic right to elect your governor. Vote wisely,” he added.
