… Says the Vitamins distributed are very essential

A Public Health Physician, and founder of Nkwa Chi Kwere Community Development Foundation, Dr Chijioke Kaduru has applauded Mbaise Policy Roundtable, MPR for embarking on Maternal Health Project of distributing six months supply of the United Nations international multiple micronutrient prenatal vitamins to 5000 pregnant women in Mbaise.
He made the commendation on Wednesday, during the flag-off of the programme at Ogbe Ahiara in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.
Kaduru who was given an award of Outstanding Leadership in Maternal Health Advocacy by MPR, poured encomiums on the NGO, saying they have done noble in deeming it fit to mobilize human, material and financial resources, and partnering with Gift Health Plus, among others in providing the pregnant women with the vitamins, which he said will be very beneficial to them.

“The government has taken a strategic position in making efforts towards improving the health and well-being of pregnant women. To support and ensure that these efforts are actualized in all nooks and crannies of Nigeria, stakeholders should take part in advancing such a course. This is what Mbaise Policy Roundtable is doing, which should be applauded.”
“As a Doctor working in the Public Health Center, the health of women and children is a priority for me. So I do not hesitate to take part in any programme we have to engage in to ensure that they are living a healthy life. Such activity is also what we embark on in my foundation; Nkwa Chi Kwere Community Development Foundation.”
He therefore called on other stakeholders to key into such programmes of prioritizing on the well-being of the people, among other things.
The Ngor Okpala born physician further encouraged the pregnant women to endeavor to take the multi vitamins, which he said will help build up their blood levels, and aid them have a healthier pregnancy.
Kaduru also urged them to spread the news to other pregnant women so they can come at the diverse centers in Aboh Mbaise, Ahiazu Mbaise, and Ezinihitte Mbaise, to partake of it, averring that the 6month supply of the vitamins will be enough to carry them through their pregnancies
He, in the same vein advised the women to take further steps in enrolling in other federal and state government health insurance schemes for pregnant women, citing that in Imo State, the State Government has created an avenue for the pregnant women to receive free care until the time of their birth.
