The Imo State House of Assembly has poured encomiums on Governor Hope Uzodimma for taking swift action by sending some delegates from the state to Ghana to bring back home underaged girls (between 15 -18years) that were deceitfully taken to Ghana for prostitution by Child Traffickers.

It would be recalled that out of the ten (10) girls, seven were from Imo State, while others were from Plateau State.

The members made the commendation on Wednesday when the motion was raised as a matter of Urgent Importance by the Nkwerre lawmaker, Hon. Chisom Ojukwu, and was seconded by Chief Whip of the House, Rt. Hon. Chigozie Nwaneri.

Speaking, the Nkwerre legislator noted that the Governor’s immediate rise to the occasion of bringing back home not just the Imo daughters who were obviously stranded in Ghana, but others from Plateau State is a prove of his having a humane heart towards the plights of people.

Ojukwu who opined that governor Uzodimma should rightly be addressed as “Omepuru Umu Nwogbenye”, continued that the action of the governor has proven beyond every reasonable doubt that he is very desirous of protecting all Imo citizens, irrespective of their social status, or affiliations.

Sending a high powered delegation to Ghana, led by the Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House Of Assembly, Rt Honourable Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu and the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Nkechi Ugwu, to not only rescue our girls, but to also bring them back home to the warm embrace of their families, and to be rehabilitated too, the lawmaker said is the height of concern for the safety of the citizenry which should be applauded.
