The Imo State Police Command has arrested a man, Mr.Chinonye Nwaneri, a native of Umuodu in Owerri, the state, accused of murdering girl friend whose name has not been ascertained as at the time of filling this report.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, who disclosed this on Saturday to newsmen averred that the suspect is still in there custody as the Command intends to carry out an autopsy to ascertain the cause of the victim’s death.
Okoye further stated that the suspect will be arraigned in court on completion of a comprehensive investigation.
National Beam gathered that the suspect who is a member of the Security Vigilantee Group is already married with kids, but has been dating the deceased for the past three to four years.
We further gathered that the young lady who was an orphan (no father, no mother) was last seen with the man at Onumiri Street in Owerri a day before she was murdered and thrown inside the gutter.
Her lifeless body was seen on January 7, 2024right inside the gutter (drainage system) not to far from her alleged killer’s house at Madumere Street in Owerri.
Our reporter gathered that when the Police came, and interrogated members of the Vigilantee Group who were on night duty on that faithful day, they all pointed accusing finger on Mr.Chinonye.
