Rita Edochie Fires Fresh Political Salvo — See Who She Wants Nigerians To Support In 2027

Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has stirred fresh political reactions after publicly declaring her support for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, ahead of the 2027 general election.

Edochie, in a post shared on Instagram, criticised supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that some of those backing the ruling party were motivated by personal interests rather than the development of Nigeria.

The actress subsequently announced that she was officially beginning her campaign for Obi and Kwankwaso, urging Nigerians to use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to participate actively in the electoral process.

She also called on voters to reject vote buying and political thuggery, while urging Nigerians to support what she described as candidates with the capacity to lead.

Her statement has added another layer to the growing political activities and public declarations ahead of the 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, Minister of Works David Umahi has also recently spoken about Peter Obi, particularly concerning the former Anambra State governor’s repeated use of the phrase, “go and verify.”

In a video that circulated on social media, Umahi said he disliked Obi’s frequent use of the expression when discussing his record, policies and claims about governance.

Umahi’s comments and Edochie’s declaration have added to the ongoing public debate surrounding Obi and the wider political realignments taking shape ahead of the 2027 election.

As political activities intensify, statements from prominent public figures and entertainers are increasingly drawing attention as parties and political movements position themselves for the contest ahead.
