“They Want Him Gone!” — Dele Momodu Claims APC Governors Are Secretly Praying For Tinubu’s 2027 Defeat

A fresh political bombshell has landed ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election, with African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Dele Momodu alleging that some APC governors publicly backing President Bola Tinubu may privately be hoping for his defeat.
Speaking during an interview with Channels Television, Momodu claimed the governors are operating under intense political pressure and that many of them would allegedly prefer a Tinubu defeat to what he described as continued political dependence.
“A lot of them are praying fervently that Tinubu should lose the election so that they can regain their freedom.”
Momodu went further, saying the governors are “like slaves” and alleging that their continued support for Tinubu is largely about political survival.
“Some of them, trust me, you know politicians interact. They are just trying to fulfill all righteousness by staying with Tinubu, not because they love him. That I can guarantee you,” he said.
The claim comes at a time when APC governors have publicly reaffirmed their support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, while opposition forces continue attempts to consolidate around a challenger.
Momodu’s allegation, however, is his own political assessment and has not been independently established as the private position of APC governors. Publicly, several governors have stated their support for Tinubu, including the five South-East governors according to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.
With the 2027 contest increasingly taking shape, Momodu’s claim raises a provocative question: **Are the governors truly united behind Tinubu, or is there more happening behind the scenes than the public is being told?
