Imo NNPP Re-elects Mandis Duruimo As State Chairman, Others

The Imo State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has reconstituted its State Executive Committee, returning Chief Mandis Duruimo as State Chairman.

The congress, held on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the party’s Secretariat located at 190 Wetheral Road, Owerri, produced a 30-member executive through a consensus process adopted by delegates from the 27 local government areas of the state.

Other members of the newly elected state executive include:

Chief Samuel Opara – Deputy Chairman

Dr Ifeanyi Iroegbu – Vice Chairman (Okigwe Zone)

Nze Ndieze Nwogu – Vice Chairman (Orlu Zone)

Engr. Luke Ahuekwe – Vice Chairman (Owerri Zone)

Mr. Dandy Osuji – Secretary

Engr. Udochukwu Nwachukwu – Deputy Secretary

Mrs. Franca Okoli – Woman Leader

Mrs. Akudo Eche – Deputy Woman Leader

Mr Ugochukwu Iwuala – Youth leader, among others.

The Chairman of the Congress Committee, Hon. Emeka Ibe, who presided over the exercise introduced accredited delegates and announced that the party would adopt consensus voting, in line with NNPP’s constitution.

The motion for consensus was moved by Mr. Anthony Opara and seconded by Mr. Ike Sunday, after which delegates unanimously approved it.

Ibe subsequently announced the new executive members and administered the oath of office.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present to monitor the congress.

The monitoring team was led by Dr. Nneka Ogochukwu Eluogu, HOD/EPM, INEC Owerri, accompanied by Uzoamaka Rosemary, supervised the process to ensure compliance with the party constitution and the Electoral Act.

In his acceptance remarks, Chief Duruimo expressed gratitude to God and party members for the confidence reposed in him.

“I am very pleased to accept this responsibility once again. Under my leadership, the party will grow from strength to strength and move to an unprecedented level where we will capture the administration of the state,” he said.

“With the cooperation of the new State Executive, we will work tirelessly to ensure the NNPP also captures the presidency of this country.”

He thanked party members for their steadfastness, commended INEC officials for their professionalism, and appreciated the press and security agencies for their support during the congress.

The NNPP had earlier conducted its Ward Congresses on November 24 across all 305 ward offices, and its Local Government Congresses on December 1 across the 27 LGAs in the state.
