Tinubu Defeated Them Once, He’ll Do It Again — Bwala Mocks Atiku, Obi, Amaechi

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Public Communications and Media, has dismissed the opposition’s chances ahead of the 2027 presidential election, describing key opposition figures as “familiar customers” already defeated by President Tinubu.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Bwala criticised the current state of opposition politics, accusing many opposition leaders of being driven by personal ambition, grievances, and desperation rather than national interest.
According to him, the opposition has failed to present Nigerians with a credible alternative, insisting that many of its leading figures are “internally displaced politicians” seeking power at all costs.
“They are denying Nigerians the opportunity to make a real choice. Some left our party because they felt opportunities were not given to them, while others are simply desperate for power. Desperate people do desperate things,” Bwala stated.
The presidential aide also mocked recent political defections and alliances among opposition politicians, saying many of them were now engaging in the same party-switching they once criticised members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for.
“A few days ago, they were attacking each other on television. Now, they are trying to explain why they keep jumping from one political party to another within months. These were the same people accusing us of lacking principles,” he said.
Bwala further stated that the APC would actually prefer a more organised opposition capable of presenting alternative ideas and ensuring a competitive democratic process.
Asked whether the ruling party was worried about facing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra governor Peter Obi, or former Rivers governor Rotimi Amaechi in 2027, Bwala dismissed the possibility of any serious threat.
“All of them are familiar customers to Asiwaju. He defeated them in 2023 when the odds were against him,” he declared.
Bwala also took a swipe at Obi, describing him as a “nomadic politician” since leaving the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). He argued that the Obidient movement appeared stronger online than in actual grassroots political structures, alleging that many of its supporters were merely “bot accounts.”
On Atiku, Bwala acknowledged his political experience but suggested that age was becoming a major challenge for the former vice president in active politics.
