Wike Makes Bold 2027 Prediction As FCT Projects Near Completion

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has made a confident prediction about the outcome of the 2027 presidential election in Abuja, declaring that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are set to secure the FCT.

Wike based his confidence on what he described as the massive infrastructure development delivered by the Tinubu administration across the Federal Capital Territory, including major projects in the city centre and satellite towns.

The minister spoke yesterday while inspecting key road projects, including the Apo-Karshi Road and the Gwarinpa-Kubwa road corridor.

According to Wike, good governance remains the most important measure of a government’s performance and could significantly influence voters ahead of the 2027 elections.

He said the Tinubu administration had moved beyond promises by delivering projects that could be physically verified and directly affect the lives of residents.

“I can beat my chest, close my eyes, and sleep with my two eyes closed that President Tinubu and APC candidates will win FCT in 2027,” Wike said.

“If good governance is the barometer to measure whether a government has succeeded or not, then we have nothing to fear.

“If residents are saying they want a government that listens, cares, and solves their problems, the Renewed Hope Agenda has delivered exactly that. It is not only listening and caring; it is actively solving their problems.”

Wike also took aim at opposition parties preparing to challenge the APC in the FCT, questioning what he described as their lack of visible records of performance.

The minister said voters would not be easily persuaded by campaign promises without corresponding evidence of achievement.

“What will those who are coming tell the people? They will tell them stories. But we have not come with stories; we have come with facts, verifiable facts,” he said.

Wike added that the approaching 2027 elections would provide an opportunity for FCT residents and indigenes to assess the performance of different political leaders.

On the infrastructure projects inspected, Wike expressed satisfaction with the pace of construction, announcing that the long-delayed Apo-Karshi Road is expected to be completed in November, while the Gwarinpa-Kubwa road corridor is projected for completion in December.

“We promised 10 projects before elections, but from what we are seeing, we are delivering far more,” the minister said, describing the projects as Christmas and New Year gifts to FCT residents.

Meanwhile, Wike defended the recent demolitions carried out in parts of the Central Business District (CBD), insisting that the FCT Administration would not compromise the Abuja Master Plan.

He rejected claims by some affected occupants that they were not given adequate notice, maintaining that quit notices had been issued more than six months before the demolitions.

The minister said the administration would continue enforcing planning regulations despite emotional appeals from affected developers and occupants.
