Int’l Women’s Day: POWA empowers 100 Indigent Police Officers’ wives

In commemoration the 2024 International Women’s Day Celebration, Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) Imo State chapter, has doled out foodstuff and money to 100 indigent police officers’ wives in the state.

This took place on Friday at the State Police Command Headquarters, Owerri, during POWA’s marking of the International Women’s Day.

The empowerment, according to the Imo State Chapter Chairperson, Mrs. Jemimah Danjuma Aboki, the wife of Imo State Commissioner of Police, was to cushion the effects of hunger confronting the nation, especially the less-privileged in the society.

She said the incentive would go a long way in providing solace to the families and serve as a moral booster for serving police officers to discharge their duties without any let or hindrance.

Mrs Aboki also described women as special species naturally made to build homes and enhance the overall security of the nation.

She further urged Imo women to leverage on the opportunity of the annual celebration to better their lots and help the society move forward.
