Following additional reports from INEC officials in Enugu, Akwa Ibom and kano states where elections are suspended, the Commission has supported the Returning Officer’s decision to announce results in the Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency, saying the number of registered voters in the two Polling Units did not affect the outcome of the election.
The Commission has however, resolved to conduct a supplementary election in Taraba State and a new re-run election in Enugu State, both scheduled for Wednesday 14th February 2024.
INEC further disclosed that due to the security concerns, the election in Kunchi/Tsanyawa in kano State Constituency will be held at a later date, after further discussions with security agencies and stakeholders.
Meanwhile, Certificates of Return they said will be presented to winners of Senatorial and House of Representatives in the February 3rd re-run and bye-elections at the INEC headquarters on Wednesday, February 7th by 2pm while winners of state assembly elections will collect theirs at the affected state INEC offices.
