The Executive Officer of SIMORA Securities, and SIMORA Hotels Limited, Dr. Simeon Obiora Ukagba (Onwa), has garnered the support of his people as he made known his intention to run for the Orlu Chairmanship seat in the forth coming Local Government election slated to hold on the 21st of September 2024.
This took place on Friday in Owerri, the state capital, when the business mogul also known as Architect of modern ORLU, met and officially made his aspiration known to the Orlu All Progressives Congress, APC Leaders who were led by their Chairman, Hon Stanley Nwosu (Ochinawata)
The Executive Officer of VALENTINO DA VINCI, Chief Sir Valentino C. Ugbala popularly addressed as Ikuku-Oma, who was present in the meeting, earnestly threw his weigh behind the aspirant, saying he has proven beyond every reasonable doubt that he has all it takes to handle such position.
He pointed out that he knows there are other contestants vying for the seat, but that they, the leaders should go for the best which he made them understand that he has no reservations that Dr. Ukagba is the best.
Hon Okolie Tigana Nnamdi, (APC Party Chieftain in Amaifeke), among others also took turns in supporting Ukagba’s aspiration.
Speaking earlier, the Orlu born industrialist, Dr. Ukagba who is the owner of the SIMORA hotel, and founder of SIMORA Memorial Museum located at the LGA, commended the leaders for honouring his invitation, assuring that they will not regret such decision as he has come to restore the past glory of the LGA.
He pointed out that as a manager of men, resources, creator of wealth and an employer of labour, that he has achieved a level of academic proficiency, equivalent to handling the affairs of the LGA.
Reiterating that he has come to change the narrative in Orlu, rolled out his plans and programme for the people, saying, “I have several Blueprint for Orlu if given the opportunity to man the affairs of the LGA. They are on Security, Agricultural revolution, tourism, human capital development, education, health and infrastructural development.
“For security, I have been actively involved in integrated security scheme for the past 25 years, which is why people say, ‘think security, think SIMORA’.
“For some time now it is now longer in doubt that Orlu had been deserted. Our Amiable Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has been doing his best to tame insecurity to the bearest minimum in the state, but as he cannot do it alone, there is still one thing that is remaining, which is to introduce something that will bring public confidence into Orlu, so not just our people, but tourists will begin trooping into Orlu without any form of fear, or restrictions.
“I have the latest technology which is cost effective to achieve this, and it is called, the SIMORA Vision 425 from Japan, where there will be spy cameras, motion dictators and night visions mounted in Orlu, to capture whatever is happening in our area.
“This will scare off criminals from Orlu and aid the security agencies in fighting crimes as they will be in charge of the camera monitors. Businesses will once again begin thriving in Orlu, and people will start returning home to set up industries, ‘ Ukagba stated’.
In the aspect of Agriculture, he averred that he will reactivate the piggery farm; Mgbee piggery farm located at the LGA which he said happens to be the pride of the area as it was generating massive revenue for the people, but is now moribund.
He stated that he will not only reactivate the farm, but will also give it capacity by putting up poultry, snail, rabbitry, and fishery farms there too.
He continued, “I will also introduce green farm house in the farm where different vegetables will be cultivated all year round. I will make it a training center for our teeming youths to deter them from engaging in crimes.
“My idea of palliative is to give something that is sustainable, so, I will distribute to families farm seedlings like Avocado, tangerine, among other seedlings. Research has it that planting of cashews on hilly areas prevents erosion, and so I will share seedlings to all the erosion prone areas to curtail erosions in the LGA.
“I will make it compulsory for every primary and secondary school in Orlu to plant at least 30 agric fruits, during the raining season, and during the dry season Orlu water tanker will go round to water the fruits, and in the next four to five years, Orlu will be the food basket of the nation as we will begin exporting to other states,’ Ukagba said’
For tourism, he promised to make the LGA a tourist site which he has began already with the SIMORA hotel he built in the LGA, and the Orlu Memorial Museum which he founded that has items of past heros.
He pointed out that he has also procured a private zoo license for the LGA, and has found a suitable place for it to be built in the LGA.
On Education, which he said the educational system in Orlu is deteriorating due to incessant sit at home, he assured of deploying ICT Centers in all schools for the students not to be limited in anyway, and can still study whether they are at school or not.
He continued, “I have more than 25 nurses under my scholarship, and if I become your Chairman, I will do more by making sure every INEC ward in Orlu, every year gives us one person who we will train for free for a nursing degree.”
For the health sector, Ukagba pointing out that he is also a public health advocate and expert in the control of infectious diseases, assured the people of making primary health care accessible, affordable, and even free for the poor, as he knows the pertinence of health to the people.
Saying that his contesting for the election is bore out of divine providence, Ukagba urged the leaders to support his aspiration, averring that he has come to consolidate on what he has already commenced in the LGA, which they all, he said can attest to.
” I am not coming out for this position not to enrich myself for by the grace of God I am blessed. I have been creating wealth for our LGA, and that I want to continue doing for I see the progress of my people, as my progress”.
