Imo Assembly Congratulates Gov Uzodimma on Appointment as Renewed Hope Ambassador

By Christiana Nnaemeka

The Imo State House of Assembly has congratulated Governor Hope Uzodimma on his recent appointment as Renewed Hope Ambassador and Director General of the APC Outreach by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The commendation followed the adoption of a motion sponsored by the Chief Whip of the House and member representing Oru East State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chigozie Nwaneri, during the House plenary on Thursday.

Moving the motion, Nwaneri described Governor Uzodimma as a political icon, strategist and detribalized leader whose achievements in education, road infrastructure, human capital development and grassroots advancement have earned him national and international recognition.

He noted that the governor’s proactive leadership style and continued expansion of the APC fold remained remarkable.

He further highlighted Uzodimma’s roles as Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, describing him as a “bridge builder, unifier and progressive leader.”

Nwaneri stated that the new appointment by President Tinubu was a testament to the governor’s competence and national acceptability.

He urged the Assembly to formally congratulate him and encourage him to continue championing unity, national integration and development.

Lawmakers who contributed to the motion unanimously commended Governor Uzodimma and applauded Nwaneri for raising such motion.

The member for Ideato South, Rt. Hon. Johnson Duru Iheonukara, described the governor as “the Governor-General among governors,” noting that the appointment was one of many recognitions yet to come.

Hon. Uzoma Francis Osuoha (Ohaji/Egbema) said the governor had transformed Imo State at both local and national levels, citing the newly commissioned Imo Land Information System, which he said would ease public access to land records.

Deputy Majority Leader, Rt. Hon. Sam Osuji, said the appointment was well-deserved, praising Uzodimma’s diligence, prudence and transformational leadership. He added that Imo now wears “a new look in all facets,” especially in health infrastructure, and expressed hope that the governor could one day emerge as President of Nigeria “of Igbo extraction.”

Majority Leader, Rt. Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi, said the governor’s commitment to the progress of both Imo and Nigeria earned him the national honour.

Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chyna Iwuanyanwu, clarified that the appointment was not solely based on Uzodimma’s achievements, but on President Tinubu’s confidence in his capacity to promote the APC and the Renewed Hope Agenda across the country. He prayed for God to grant the governor wisdom to succeed.

With no opposition to the motion, Speaker Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe put it to a voice vote, and it was adopted unanimously.
