“They’ve Come for Us?” — VeryDarkMan Breaks Silence as EFCC Invitation Sparks Fresh Controversy

Popular social media personality, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has confirmed receiving an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following a petition seeking an investigation into his financial activities.
The petition, reportedly filed by legal practitioner Blessing Agbomhere of Blessing Agbomhere & Partners, calls for a thorough probe into the funding sources, sponsorship arrangements, and financial dealings of both VeryDarkMan and activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju.
Reacting to the development on his Instagram page, VeryDarkMan described the investigation as an attempt to silence voices critical of the government. He alleged that political actors were using legal channels to target individuals who speak out against perceived governance failures.
According to him, the petition questions how their advocacy campaigns and protests have attracted significant public support, suggesting that authorities suspect external sponsorship behind their activities.
VeryDarkMan further claimed that there were efforts to portray their activism as a threat to the government, insisting that their campaigns were driven by ordinary Nigerians demanding change.
He also revealed that the petitioner is an alleged member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from his local government area in Etsako, Edo State.
Documents shared by the social media activist indicate that the petition was received at the EFCC headquarters on June 18, 2026.
The anti-graft agency has yet to publicly comment on the matter, while the development continues to generate reactions across social media and political circles.
