2027: NDC Makes Major Move As Obi, Kwankwaso Prepare For Crucial Party Meeting

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced plans to unveil its National Campaign Council as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The party disclosed that its 3rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting would hold on Monday, October 26, 2026, in Abuja, with several key activities lined up for the gathering.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, said the meeting would take place at JD Event Centre, Kashim Ibrahim Way, opposite A-Class Park, Maitama, Abuja, by 10 a.m.

Campaign Council Unveiling Takes Centre Stage

According to the party, one of the major highlights of the meeting will be the unveiling of its National Campaign Council (NCC), which will oversee campaign activities across different levels of government.

The council will cover the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State Houses of Assembly campaigns.

The party also disclosed that its candidates would receive Certificates of Return for their respective offices during the event.

The development comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum, with the NDC positioning itself for a major contest.

NDC To Present Statement Of Account

Beyond its campaign preparations, the party said it would present its Statement of Account through the National Treasurer at the NEC meeting.

Director explained that the move was part of the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability, challenging other political parties, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to adopt similar practices.

“For the NDC, it is no longer politics as usual,” the statement declared.

The party also attributed its financial limitations partly to the economic difficulties facing Nigerians, claiming that about 80 per cent of its candidates could not afford the Expression of Interest forms.

According to the statement, the party consequently provided the forms free of charge to candidates who could not afford them.

Party Declares Readiness For 2027

The NDC expressed confidence in its preparations, declaring that it was ready to offer Nigerians what it described as selfless leadership.

The party’s forthcoming NEC meeting is expected to provide an opportunity for its leadership to discuss its campaign structure, financial accountability and broader political strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.

With the National Campaign Council set to be unveiled, attention will be on the party’s next steps and how its plans will translate into electoral strength.

The NDC concluded its statement with the message: “A New Nigeria is Possible. We can do it!”
