The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed suggestions that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s political career is over following his prolonged political feud with his predecessor.
Wike made the clarification on Thursday in Abuja during his monthly media chat with selected journalists, insisting that Fubara still has a future in politics despite the crisis that rocked Rivers State.
According to the minister, Fubara is still young and should not be written off politically because of the disagreement that strained their relationship.
“Governor Fubara is a young man. It will be incorrect to say that his political future is gone,” Wike stated.
The FCT minister also disclosed that Fubara remains an active member of the Rainbow Coalition, a political platform comprising members of different parties supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.
Wike further revealed that Fubara played an active role in the coalition’s activities in Rivers State, including unveiling its candidates.
“Fubara is an active member of the Rainbow Coalition. In fact, he was the one who unveiled the Rainbow Coalition candidates in Rivers State,” he said.
The latest comments come months after Wike and Fubara reconciled in May 2026, bringing an end to their prolonged political disagreement.
The reconciliation reportedly came with a major political consequence, as Fubara dropped his re-election ambition.
Wike’s latest remarks have, however, renewed attention on Fubara’s political future and the possible direction of his political career following the dramatic fallout and subsequent reconciliation.
