‘I Have More To Reveal’: Datti Sends Strong Warning To Obidients Over Peter Obi

Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has fired back at supporters of Peter Obi, popularly known as Obidients, over what he described as persistent attacks against him following his criticism of the former Anambra State governor.
Datti has recently been vocal about his disagreement with Obi’s political moves, particularly his decision to explore the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition before eventually defecting to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
His comments reportedly angered several Obidients, who accused him of betraying his former presidential running mate and allegedly working in the interest of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the ADC presidential candidate.
However, speaking during an interview with Symfoni TV, Datti expressed displeasure over the attacks, insisting that Obidients resort to insults whenever he speaks what he considers the truth about Peter Obi.
He further hinted that he has more damaging revelations to make, warning the supporters to stop attacking him.
Datti maintained that he remains a loyal member of the Labour Party but would not allow Obidients to intimidate him into silence, insisting that many of them do not understand what transpired during the 2023 presidential election.
He said:
“Obidients are always eager to attack me. I have more damaging things to reveal. You attack me because I told you the truth about Peter Obi.”
Umahi Dismisses Obi’s 2027 Presidential Ambition
Meanwhile, Minister of Works, David Umahi, has also taken a swipe at Peter Obi’s reported 2027 presidential ambition, describing him as a “nobody.”
Umahi, a former governor of Ebonyi State, also questioned Obi’s claim to represent the political interests of the South-East, arguing that the region has several prominent politicians with stronger credentials.
He listed former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim; former Minister of Education, Sam Egwu; and former Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Chief Elias Mbam, among personalities he believes are better qualified than Obi.
Describing himself as the “Lion of the South-East,” Umahi urged people of the region to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
He argued that supporting Tinubu would position the South-East to benefit politically when the opportunity eventually comes for the region to produce Nigeria’s president.
The latest exchanges have added another layer of tension to the unfolding political calculations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
