United States President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his threat to take military action against Nigeria, citing what he described as ongoing genocide against Christians in the country.
This he reiterated during a press conference on Wednesday.
Speaking, Trump said his administration would not “stand idly by” while Christians in Nigeria and other parts of the world continue to face persecution.
“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria,” Trump declared. “The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening there and in many other countries.”
He added, “We stand ready, willing, and able to protect our great Christian population around the world.”
