Caregivers Training, Internship Institute Owerri holds graduation ceremony for 2nd quarter students

A premier institution dedicated to producing globally acceptable caregivers equipped with 21st Century best practices, powered by Littlewood Recruitment Services; Caregivers Training, and Internship Institute Owerri, has graduated its Second Quarter 2024 students.

The event which took place at Rockview Hotel Owerri, Imo State capital on Saturday, 19, 2024, had 36 students ( 2 medical doctors for Higher Diploma in caregiving, 14 Diploma Graduands, and 20 Certificate Graduands), graduated by the Rector of the Institution, Bishop Professor Athan Azubuike, JP, LLB(Hons).

Giving the Chairman’s Opening Remark was the Chief Fire Officer of Imo State Fire Service, and one of the trainers in the institution, Mr. Obinna Iwuchukwu who thanked God for making it possible for them to be able to carry out the graduation ceremony.

He commended the graduands for dedicating themselves to acquiring such knowledge, saying it is a stage to the greatest heights they are aspiring to attain.

Iwuchukwu also congratulated them and charged them to make due use of the knowledge they have acquired.

In his keynote address, a Special Guest of Honour, former Imo State House of Assembly lawmaker, Ph.D holder in Law, and certified Solicitor, Hon. Barr. Ifeanyi Chukwu Agwu, who averring that Bishop Athan is a man that has distinguished himself, and is highly respected among Okigwe people, especially Mbano, lauded the Bishop for establishing such institution, which he said is the first of it’s kind in Imo State.

He pointed out that what matters now, and can make people earn a living is the skill they have acquired in a particular field, saying that there are lots of graduates with good qualifications but have no job.

Agwu commended the graduands for availing themselves to acquiring such skill even after gaining Doctorate, Masters and Bachelor’s degree Certificates.

“The fact that you have acquired this knowledge of caregiving means that you have an edge over others who are struggling in the labour market to get an employment offer.

“Just be very good ambassadors of the institution, and you will be perplexed over opportunities you will get, especially to travel outside the country where caregiving is highly needed,’Agwu advised’.

Making his recommendation as the Rector of the Institution, Bishop Athan Azubuike reiterating that caregiving is what is globally sort after, hinted, ” before in Nigeria, if you graduate, you cand easily get a job, but now it is no longer so. Therefore we taught of a way to aid our upcoming graduates, and discovered that there is no other degree sort all over the world like Caregiving. Canada for instance need over half a million caregivers.

“There are shortages of caregivers, a doctor, and a nurse can treat you but cannot be a caregiver, for a caregiver is a special person that has the heart of compassion, empathy, and love for humanity, among others.

“So my recommendation is, as a caregiver you should know that you are standing in for someone that is handicapped in one way or the other, so be a good, compassionate and show such person empathy.

“Endeavor to be good ambassadors of this institution in and outside this country when such opportunity to travel out comes. Last Saturday we went to visit the aged ones for community care services. We checked their BP, Sugar level, and gave them some medications, and you people; the caregivers also contributed money and gave them rice to eat, which is quite applauded. So I urge you all to continue in such spirit, as you move out into the society to beam your light.

“Mostly pertinently, always bear in mind the legalities and illegalities of caregiving; respect religion and people’s privacy, always draw a thin line between your job and religion as doing the right thing at the wrong time can cost you your job,’Bishop Athan advised.

He further solicited for support over getting a bigger space for the institution and equipments needed for the training of their students.

This, the guests eagerly attended to, as they financially supported the institution to the best of their abilities.

Also addressing newsmen, was Professor Ossy .E. Nwebo, (the Former Vice Chancellor Imo State University, and presently lecturing at the Faculty of Law), who was supposed to be the Keynote Speaker for the event, but had a flight delay.

He firstly appreciated the Rector of the Institution, Bishop Athan for the Award given to him; Nwebo in recognition of his contributions to the institution, and thanked God that the graduation ceremony was done successfully.

He further lauded the Bishop, saying, “you, Bishop Athan have worked so hard and made much sacrifice to assist the youths, if others are doing what you are doing to aid the youths, I believe our society would have been better.

“I encourage you to continue with the good work, and for God to give you the strength, energy to continue aiding humanity,’Nwebo prayed’.

Many dignitaries; Onuimo LGA Chairman, Arch. Excellent Time Chiji from Abia State, One of the Mothers of the day, Elder Mrs Florence Ofurum, among others, who were also appreciated for their contributions to the institution, took turns in commending the Bishop, and advising the graduands to endeavor to become role models to many.

The graduands further took their Oath of Office, were decorated, and presented with their certificates.
