U.S. Congressman Riley Moore has voiced strong concern over the persistent killing of Christians in Nigeria, saying the tragic reports often leave him sleepless.
Moore made the remark on Thursday during a U.S. congressional hearing reviewing Nigeria’s status as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC), a designation linked to former President Donald Trump’s decision over alleged religious persecution.
His comment follows a new wave of violent attacks across parts of the country.
On Tuesday, terrorists invaded a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, located in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing three worshippers and abducting several others, including the church’s pastor.
Reacting to the development, Moore said the continued targeting of Christians in Nigeria deeply troubles him.
“I find it hard to sleep at night. I pray every single night about the killing of Christians in Nigeria,” he said.
“Every night, I think about my brothers and sisters in Christ who are being murdered for their faith. It is absolutely heartbreaking.”
