Revd Godswill Uchanna Oguchi of Methodis Church, Nigeria, has disclosed that the new trend in Igboland is that many youths are now leaving Christianity and returning back to idol worshiping.

The man of God revealed this at Ohobo, Afaraumuahia, Abia state during the burial ceremony of late  sister Victoria OluchiNwabuisi, aka VON, a 54 years old America based business woman , who died last October 13th, 2023 of breast cancer in an American hospital and was buried 9th of February 2024 at her father’s compound.

Speaking at the funeral, the Methodist cleric regretted that so many Igbo youths are leaving the Chuch and embracing idolatory worship. He said the reason is that many of them think God is delaying to answer tneir prayers.

“The youths are now embracing the worship of our forefathers, Amadioha and others, their hope in God is fading away, they say they need quick action and solution to their problems. They think their prayers either delayed or not answered, for me the decision  is regrettable”.

He reiterated that Christianity is real, adding that he was called at his early stage in life to serve God and carry the Bible.

“If somebody like me can carry the Bible then, don’t doubt God, Christianity is a beautiful religion, you can not after seeing the light go back to darkness, we should always pray for our youths”. The man of God stated.

He regretted the death of sister VON who he described as a beautiful soul. ” we invested our time praying for our sister while she was battling with the sickness, we had high hope that the medical facilities in America would revive her, but it all failed because once God calls you home, not even the  best medication can stop you “.

The clergy described the deceased as kind hearted and a good Christian who lived an impactful life. He noted that the moment you close your eye it is either hell or heaven while urging Christians to be prepared at all time.

Speaking also during the burial, pastor Mike Nathan of Eden Christian Ministries, Lahnam, Washington DC, USA, appreciated the brother of the deceased Charles Nwabuisi for caring for her sister in the American hospital, adding that without his care she would have died earlier than she died.

He revealed that the late Von was a member of his Church, who was the music director and a talented gospel singer with four track record to her name.
