Imo NAWOJ pays familiarization visit to Chairperson turned Perm Sec …Commends Uzodimma

The Executive of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ have paid a familiarization visit to their Chairperson, Dr. Dorothy Nnaji, JP, celebrated with her on her new appointment as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

This took place on Wednesday at her office in the Imo State Secretariat.

Addressing her, the Vice Chairperson of the association, Mrs Chizoba Opara who led the executive on the visit, made Nnaji understand that they have come to share in her joy and celebrate with her as their own.

Opara thanked God, and the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma for giving her the opportunity to attain such height, adding that the honour was not just done to her, but the entire association.

She on behalf of the executive presented a gift item to the Permanent Secretary to congratulate her.

Adding her voice, the Secretary of the Union, Onyinyechi Amakulo, JP also appreciated the Governor for the privilege and opportunity given to their Chairperson to clinch such a position.

Amakulo who pointed out that the members of the association are elated for the attained feat, beckoned on the governor not to relent in continuously supporting the association.

Speaking also, the Financial Secretary, Gloria Allison assured the Governor of Dr. Dorothy Nnaji living up to expectation, which according to her, she has proven with the way she ‘judiciously’ piloted the affairs of the association.

She further assured the governor of the support of Imo NAWOJ to his 3R mantra of shared prosperity, reiterating that he should not relent in always showing his fatherly love to them.

An Ex-officio, Chioma Nkama also reiterated all that the aforementioned executive had said, adding that she was not surprised over the appointment as it was a well deserved one.

Other executive; Assistant Secretary; Uzegbu Nelly Amarachi, Treasurer, Mrs Chinenye Nwadike, Internal Auditor; Chinyere Nnaemeka, an Ex-officio, Chinenye Nwokeji all unanimously re-echoed all that the other executives had said, expressing joy over the appointment.

In response, the NAWOJ Chairperson, and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Dorothy Nnaji, who said she was so humbled by the visit, averred that she lacked words to convey how elated she was.

She noted that it is a thing to give God thanks for, for she has been going on courtesy visits to others, and today, she is the one been visited.

The Perm Sec continued, “some persons wished for me to be denied such an opportunity, but God who has the final say, thwarted their plans for my good”.

Nnaji narrated the whole process of her emergence, averring that out of 1000 persons that were screened by the external consultants brought to handle the selection, that she was among the 24 persons that successfully scaled through.

She further thanked the Governer for giving her the opportunity to be part of the process, and assured of not disappointing in the confidence reposed in her.
