Owerri, the bubbling capital city of Imo State, will on Wednesday, August 14,2024, play host to eminent personalities from the South East, who have distinguished themselves in various fields of human endeavours,in the first ever Media Summit and Awards organized by the Nigerian Horn Group of Newspapers in collaboration with South East Media Practitioners.
The Media Summit, with the theme, “The Media, Ethical Responsibility and Democracy : South East in Perspective,” has the former Governor of Imo State, Dr Ikedi Ohakim (Temitope of the Source) as the Guest Speaker.
The event which has the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma as the Special Guest of Honour, will also be used to adorn eminent and deserving personalities from South East geopolitical zone, who have contributed significantly to socioeconomic, human and infrastructural development of the zone and her people.
According to a statement issued by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Chief Kennedy Eweama, all the Awardees where selected based on individual merit after a painstaking and thorough evaluation of their individual profiles.
He named the Awardees to include Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, High Chief Dr Michael Onuoha (Eriri Ego), Dr(Mrs) Stella Onuoha – Obilor and Chief Johnpaul Ochemba.
Others are Chief Innocent Chukwuma (Innoson Motors), High Chief Mike Duru Ejiogu, Dr Ejike Chukwu and Princess Calister Anene, the statement said.
The event will also be graced by media practitioners across the South East zone and is expected to mark a new and positive dawn in media practice in the South East geopolitical zone.
