Oyo Abduction Fallout: Cleric Issues Stark Warning to First Lady Over Tinubu’s 2027 Chances

The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has criticised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu over her response to the abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State, warning that her actions could negatively impact President Bola Tinubu’s chances in the 2027 general election.
Speaking during an interaction with women on Friday, the outspoken cleric accused the First Lady of failing to demonstrate the empathy expected of a mother during a national crisis.
According to Ayodele, Mrs Tinubu should have publicly demanded the safe return of the abducted pupils, rather than focusing on political activities.
“Remi Tinubu, you will make Tinubu lose the 2027 election. You did not behave like a mother at all. You should have done what Jonathan’s wife did,” Ayodele said.
“You never protested or demanded that these Oyo schoolchildren be brought back. Instead, you were busy distributing cars for political campaigns. I will tell you the truth.”
The cleric’s remarks come amid growing public concern over the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State.
Recently, the First Lady donated vehicles to women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in five opposition-controlled states. The presentation took place during the inauguration of the Tinubu Torchbearers (TTB), a pro-Tinubu support group, at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja.
Ayodele’s comments have added a political dimension to the ongoing debate surrounding the government’s response to the Oyo school abduction and the welfare of the victims.
