The Leadership of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria(PASAN) South East Zone has honoured Barr. Mrs. Chinelo Emeghara, Clerk of the Imo State House of Assembly with an Award of Excellence.
She is the first Clerk to receive such award from South East PASAN, which compromises of Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, Abia States Houses of Assemblies.
The award was accorded to her at her office in the Imo State House of Assembly.
It was said to have been conferred on her for her dedication in efficiently and effectively executing her duties.
Speaking before handing over the award to the awardee, Comrade Pastor Promise Chijioke Onwukwe, National Vice President South East Zone, stated “We are bestowing this Award of Excellence to you, Barr. Mrs. Chinelo Emeghara, for your commitment, and the unwavering support you have been giving to our members. It is from our heart that we say this – we really cherish and love for all your good works, which is why you are the first person to receive such prestigious award from PASAN South East Zone.
“We are using you to start our award programme and we know that it will be an open door for PASAN’s success going forward.
“The award is not a personal project, but the collective project of the six chapters of PASAN we have in the south east zone, which has been taking cognizance of all you’ve been doing not just for the staff of the Imo State House of Assembly, but to many others.
“We appreciate you for all this, and urge you to keep up the good work,’Onwukwe stated’.
Responding, the Clerk, who was short of words over the award averred, “I am overwhelmed with joy to say the least, I feel very humbled, and really short of words for this show of love. All I have to say is thank you to you all for finding me worthy of such accolade. As you have remembered me today, may heaven remember you all too.
“Sometimes, one works, puts in the effort and it is not noticed, but for noticing the little efforts being made here and appreciating it in such a big way, I want to say thank you very much once again.
“Leadership is not an easy service. Initially when I became the Clerk, my desire was to please everybody; I wanted everyone to be happy with me, but that has not been easy, but what you have done here today, is a sort of motivation to plunge me into pushing further.
“Lots of things that happened in the past helped to mould me for Leadership. You people also aided me greatly and that’s why I can never take anything concerning PASAN for granted, ‘Emeghara assured.
Some the staff of the Imo State House of Assembly who spoke to our correspondent pointed out that it was a well deserved award as she, the clerk was instrumental to the promotion some of the staff of Imo State House of Assembly had.
They further disclosed that she always prioritizes on the welfare of the staff, and endeavors to assist them in the best way she can without looking for person gratification, whether for a good course (celebrations) or for a bad one ( when a member is facing challenges).
“She is a very generous person. She does these things even beyond this House of Assembly. To cap it all, she has been a mother to us all. This is why we are totally in support of this award, ‘they pointed out’
The Host for the award ceremony was the PASAN Chairman of Imo State House of Assembly chapter, Comrade Anya Chukwuma
Other officials of the PASAN South East Zonal Executive Council who were present in the ceremony were Ugochukwu Ikechukwu Monday ( PASAN National Welfare Secretary), Comrade Mbam Emmanuel ( PASAN National Ex-Ofiicio, and other chapters Chairmen and Secretaries, Financial Secretaries and Treasurers of the association.
