President Bola Tinubu has unveiled the members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election, setting the stage for what is expected to be a fiercely contested political battle.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will be vice chairman.
Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has been appointed Director-General of the campaign, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as secretary.
APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman were named deputy and assistant secretaries respectively.
The APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, will also serve as a vice chairman of the council.
Tinubu Names Advisory Team
The President will be supported by a team of senior political figures, including Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Tinubu charged members of the council to work tirelessly to secure victory for the APC in the 2027 election.
He said the party had delivered on its campaign promises and urged the campaign team to showcase the administration’s achievements while reaching out to party members who were not formally listed.
Key Appointments In The Campaign Council
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed deputy directors-general for the South and North.
They will work alongside Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau in the two zones.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole will oversee mobilisation as deputy director-general, while the President’s Chief of Staff will handle administration.
James Abiodun Faleke, who played a major role in the 2022/2023 campaign, returns as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.
Media And Strategic Communication Team
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, will serve as coordinating director for media and strategic communication.
He will work with Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka have been named coordinating deputy directors.
Segun Dada will return as Director of New Media, a position he held during the previous campaign, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as Secretary of New Media.
Five Spokespersons Named
The campaign has also appointed five spokespersons, with Dele Alake leading the team.
Other spokespersons are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
With the APC now unveiling its campaign structure, attention is expected to shift to how the opposition parties will respond as the 2027 presidential contest begins to gather momentum.
